Use Your Performance Report to Evaluate Your Course Material Choices

No matter what you’re doing, reviewing your performance after the fact is almost as important as performing well in the moment. That’s how you learn about what you did right, what you can improve on, things to look out for the next time around, etc.

Most obviously, you can use it as a way to see how well your expectations aligned with reality. Did your students save as much money as you hoped? Perhaps the biggest advantage of the performance report is the ability to see the exact amount of savings your school was able to provide your students in a number of categories. Whether it's used books, rental, or any other cost-saving format, you'll have all of that information right there to show your faculty which formats their students most desire and so they can adjust their adoption choices to accomodate those desires. And of course, if you don't offer one or more of these cost-saving options, you'll want to check with your account manager on how you can go about setting that up.

You can also use it to spot new trends. If you see an uptick or downtick in a specific format, say rental, you’ll then know to talk to your faculty members about adjusting their adoptions accordingly next term. If, for example, you see more students purchasing digital, you may want to use that information as an opportunity to integrate more digital initiatives into your curriculum overall – the performance report doesn’t just have to be used as a guide for your course material choices; you can use the information in it to try new things in all areas of your curriculum.
