Santa Catalina School Partners with MBS Direct

Do well, do good.

This is a motto that Santa Catalina School has lived by since its foundation in 1950 by Dominican Sisters. The Catholic school’s educational mission seeks to “develop students’ intellectual curiosity along with their spiritual moral, creative and physical talents.”

Those haven’t been the only areas of focus for Santa Catalina’s administrators — the school has also been looking to improve convenient access for their students to their course materials.

Now, students and their families have a one-stop-shop. The accredited Monterey, Calif. School has officially partnered with MBS Direct as its course material fulfillment solution.

The school previously offered online purchasing through a different vendor, but had to choose a new fulfillment partner when that company went out of business. Their previous vendor often encouraged students to self-source their books, and school administrators realized their families needed more convenience.

“In our research to find an excellent solution, we discovered from a number of similar schools that they use MBS Direct,” said John B. Aimé, Assistant Head of School. “We felt that MBS offered a one-stop shopping experience for our parents, we feel that MBS will offer support and services that a smaller company wouldn’t be able to provide, and we liked the flexibility and responsiveness of the MBS Direct representatives.”

Santa Catalina School serves as a day school for 100 middle schoolers and a boarding school for 245 high school girls. Because of this, their educational needs vary widely, and students’ parents may not always be in the immediate area. Through their official online bookstore, families will now only need an internet connection to log in to one place to order everything their students’ classes require.

With an eye on the future, incoming freshmen at Santa Catalina also utilize iPads® in the classroom. In addition to physical textbooks, students and their families will be able to purchase E-books and access codes, and take advantage of around-the-clock customer service and convenient online buyback options.

And Santa Catalina’s faculty is enjoying some of the perks of MBS Direct, as well.

“So far, the faculty has been very happy using Course Director to set up next year’s book orders,” Aimé said. “The easy shopping experience will be beneficial to our families, and we like the customer support MBS Direct offers.”
