St. Pius X - St. Matthias Academy Saves Students Money with New Online Bookstore

St. Pius X - St. Matthias Academy is a close-knit community. With a 15:1 student-teacher ratio and an average class size of 23, the private Catholic 9-12 co-ed school is also 1-to-1 with technology in an effort to provide students with a supportive learning community.

With those goals in mind, school officials realized their students had a harder time pursuing academic excellence if their families were being priced out of acquiring their course materials. PMA had been using an online course material fulfillment provider to meet its needs, but the cost of materials forced them to look elsewhere.

PMA Saves Students Money with New Online Bookstore

"It was very expensive for our students," said Veronica Zozaya, vice principal. "My son attends Damien High School, which uses MBS Direct, so I noticed first-hand that MBS offers more options regarding prices."

After looking more closely at their options, the school chose to partner with MBS Direct as its fulfillment provider. Students had a new Online Bookstore where they could choose to buy or rent print or digital course materials either from MBS Direct or on the marketplace from vetted vendors. 

While the savings could be anywhere from 25-95% off the list price per title based on which options students choose, that's not the only positive PMA has seen from the change in fulfillment partners. They've also gained access to more reporting, better support and fewer issues when implementing access codes, a more intuitive adoption system, more consistent customer service reps and fewer problems with backorders.

With more families ordering their titles and less time faculty and staff need to spend handling any issues with their adoptions and fulfillment rates, PMA has been able to focus its energy on what matters most: its students' education.

"We are very happy with MBS Direct," Zozaya said. "The customer service is great. Going forward we plan to use more of the features the Online Bookstore offers, such as Shop by Schedule, as they'll make things even easier for us."
