Saving students money on their course materials is one of the things we here at MBS Direct are most proud of. We recognize the kinds of budgets the majority of students live on, and we’re happy to be able to provide any measure of financial relief.

During the 2014-15 school year, we served a total of nearly 700,000 students who purchased their course materials from their schools’ personalized MBS Direct Online Bookstores. When all of the savings were summed up, students ended up saving over $30 million* by utilizing a number of different programs:

  K-12 Higher Education Total
Total Shipping Savings $728,028 $952,229 $1,680,257
Total Used Savings $4,182,693 $7,896,361 $12,079,054
Rental $15,162 $212,016 $227,178

TOTAL COST SAVINGS $8,346,458 $21,661,735 $30,008,193

*All numbers represent savings from 7/1/2014 - 6/30/2015. Savings based on new list prices.

One such program is Guaranteed Buyback, the only program of its kind in the textbook industry. When students buy a book with a Guaranteed Buyback logo, they will see at the time of purchase exactly how much they will receive for the book at the end of the term. That way, there is never any confusion over how much a student will receive for selling back their book.
