Life Gets a Bit Hairy During Movember

We mustache you a question: did your school or organization participate in Movember this year? Several members of the MBS Direct team did, and they’ve got the crumb catchers to prove it!

Movember is an annual, worldwide event designed to encourage conversations about men’s health and raise funds for programs to combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health issues. Since 2003, the Movember Foundation has raised more than $559 million, with more than 4 million mustaches grown worldwide.

Justin Martin won with the most votes

In the first week of November, 18 men from Acquisitions, Client Services and the Contact Center vowed to put down their razors to raise money for the cause. Over the next few weeks, donations were placed in envelopes on a board that displayed the mustaches in progress — this gave other members of the MBS Direct team a chance to participate in a worthy — and fun! — event without having to cultivate a ‘stache of their own. In order to inspire some friendly competition, the winner (with the most votes/donations) received a deluxe shaving kit, just in time to trim up for the holidays.

Over the course of two weeks, the participants raised nearly $300, most of which resulted from the final day of collecting before they closed up shop for Thanksgiving. Overall, the event was a great success and the MBS Direct team plans to continue the Movember tradition next year and to raise even more money for the cause.
