OpenStax College is revolutionizing the way students all over the world are learning with the release of textbooks that are both peer-reviewed and in full-color, providing excellent quality at a low cost. Since 2012, more than 1,000 high schools, colleges and universities have chosen to adopt the available titles. Because these texts are the result of a cooperative, peer-reviewed process that encourages active feedback from the educational community, discussion is welcomed and updating is a constant process.

Openstax-OnePager-v3OpenStax College ultimately aims to produce textbooks for the nation’s 25 most-attended college courses and distribute these to 10 million students. To date, the current releases have saved students more than $30 million.

The texts released thus far cover subjects including Physics, Sociology, Biology, U.S. History, Anatomy and Physiology, Statistics, Psychology, Precalculus and Economics.

Several of the OpenStax texts have been converted to VitalSource® format, and are available for adoption right now, to add to the selection of other low-cost, high quality course materials already offered in the Virtual Bookstore. These texts present a truly affordable option: only $4.99 for a Digital Plus edition (with an additionally enhanced digital version coming soon). The Digital Plus edition will allow students to highlight and annotate within the text, easily search through texts or notes and will sync all activity across multiple platforms.

All of the OpenStax titles will eventually be available through MBS Direct, with more texts added as they are released. Simply search in Course Director with “OpenStax” as the author to locate and adopt these titles, and bring additional convenience and affordability to your Virtual Bookstore today.

The learning landscape is evolving— want to find out more? Contact your account manager for more details or search “OpenStax” in Course Director to adopt these titles now!
